CYUX Hall Beach Airport is a 5000' gravel strip (although with end strobes and PAPIs) way, way up in the Canadan Arctic. It serves the village of Sanirajak (formerly also known as Hall Beach) in Nanavut Territorry. In real life, this airport is alive and well but isn't in MSFS, probably because the Bing image is so low-res I can't even tell there's an airport there, so I guess the autogen system had no hope. But there's an FBO there in FSE, so I built this for the owner. Fortnately, the Google Maps image is reasonably intelligible so i made the airport fairly close to real life.
CYUX is easy to navigate to becasue it's co-located with both an NDB and a VORTAC. I added a VOR model and an antenna for the NDB in the appropriate places near the runway. I also left all the stock buildings alone, just put a ramp around some of them. And there's a fuel pump. That's about it. Not much to it.
Those who enjoy Canacian Arctic bush fliying, whether in FSE or not, still might enjoy this place, along with CYFB and CYTE which collaborators of mine have also recently built and uploaded here at flightsim.to. Although, in real life, Nanavut's borders have been pretty muchl closed since the covid started, so you might not be able to get there.
Thanks for these couple of northern airstrips! Also, I noticed in a couple of your listings you mentioned Bing and Google maps data not being very good - agreed, but check out Mapbox (for example, it's the satellite maps Volanta uses). They have high resolution imaging of all parts of the Canadian far north. I'm not sure why Bing and Google don't license the same high res data, but Mapbox does have it and it's fantastic. Can even see the old downed CC-130 near CYLT. Anyway, cheers!
