As a small tribute to the 79th anniversary of the D-Day landings, here is my version of the famous "Whiskey 7" C-47.
"Whiskey 7" took off from Cottesmore in England in the early hours of the 6h of junte 1944 and was one of the few that actually made it to the assigned drop zone "O", over the town of Sainte-Mere-Eglise as the lead aircraft of the 37th Troop Carrier Squadron. She dropped troops of the 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division.
in 2014 it crossed again the atlantic to take part of the 70th anniversary celebrations.
C-47A-70-DL S/N 13803-1, USAAF Registered 43-30652 (today under the civilian registration N345AB) left Douglas assembly line in september 1943 and now belongs to the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo, New York.
