This is a simple driftmeter.
The driftmeter runs outside of MSFS, and with a single click measures drift due to wind.
Includes a random error that is larger when over water.
Download includes executable, PDF explanation and PDF printable work sheet.
This add-on greatly helps Dead-Reckoning navigation over water.

Thank you. I used to use Dave Bitzer's driftmeter for FS9, flying RR in the DC-3. Extremely helpful tool for any aircraft, especially when using real world weather. Look forward to using this in the 247D. Now if we only had a single needle RMI in the 247D to point to RR stations and NDBs.....hint, hint.

Thanks for your effort, love the passion people have with freeware.
I know that there is Magnetic variation and drift of the DGI (Directional Gyroscopic Indicator), is this to do with that or something else? I haven't looked deep into this myself but these specific behaviours are normal with aircraft instruments but I'm not certain as to whether there is something else happening with the gauges. This is also not a challenge to your knowledge as I have no clue of what that is, but if this fixes a bug related thing then I'm all in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heading_indicator

No, the driftmeter measures your lateral drift as caused by the wind.

Why no measurement during night? They used flares to measure the drift at night.

What a joy - you did it again! Another important and nearly forgotten instrument for pilot and crew. Good training video explaining the technique, too:
