Version 1.3
- Reworked the sandbanks around Liverpool Airport and estuary so they are less jagged around the edges.
- Removed further trees on sandbanks
Version 1.2
- Added further sandbanks along the North Wales side of the River Dee
- Tidied up some coastlines and removed a few rogue trees.
Version 1.1
- Added additional Sandbanks to include Formby, Southport and Ribble and Alt Estuaries
- Removed some rogue trees that had autogenerated on some Sandbanks
Version 1.0
- Initial release
This is my first scenery attempt to enhance the Wirral and Liverpool bay coastal area in the UK where I like to fly. It is mainly a modification to the default coastline to show the sandbanks and mudflats commonly seen during low tide. I have also removed the rogue Asobo trees from the several rock sea defences and added rock formations to enhance the appearance. There is also some added rocks and landscape to Hilbre Island and Hoylake red rocks. There is an incorrectly placed wind turbine on Hilbre Island from the sim which I'm unable to remove unfortunately.
Please note screenshots are taken with ORBX UK Central POI's installed which works well with my add on. It should still work fine without this though. This scenery only includes the sandbanks and rock formations and a few static boats using included assets from within the sim.
To install simply extract the folder "Wirral-Liverpool Sandbanks" into your MSFScommunity folder.

Love your sand bank addons these are great. Not sure if you've got the modelling skill for this but just wondered if you'd be able to add Anthony Gormley's famous cast iron figures to Crosby beach just north of Liverpool?
If you aren't familiar, he created the iconic Angel of the North sculpture and another of his famous works entitled 'Another Place' features 100 nude figures of himself put out up to 3 km out to sea on Crosby beach that only become visible at low tide. If you have sandbank data for Crosby beach and could put a few figures on the beach it would be a great showcase for sandbacks and a nice feature to fly over!

I think he placed some in Margate and elsewhere around the world not too.

Thanks! Yes the Crosby beach figures would look great - unfortunately I'm not at that skill level yet but i'm also hoping someone else with more experience in this area will work on them in the future.

Thank you for the excellent sandbank mods! What would be great is a map showing the coverage of your various sceneries.

Thanks. If I figure out how to create a coverage map I'll be sure to add one.

Hi Mark, Your beach work is great, it adds greatly to MSFS experience - any chance of a single one-stop shop with all beach work included, or a smaller number of bundles. Cheers, Richard.

Thanks. I don’t think it’s possible to combine already created project files and build one scenery file from them but I could be wrong. I’m still learning the sdk so if anyone knows how to do that please let me know.
I think I will eventually combine mods here though, maybe into country or region bundles. I’ll look into it.

Hi Freddie, thanks for the message. I don’t see a trench my end and no trees either although I do have Bijan tree mod installed so it’s possible the default trees show more on the sandbanks and need excluding I’ll have a look. Regarding the trench do you have any other mods installed for the Liverpool / Wirral area?
If anyone else has this please let me know, I can’t reproduce it this end. Thanks.

Did the filename change with this version? I don't think I was prompted to overwrite an existing file, but I could also be losing it.
Edit: It did, although you did it by accident by leaving out a space before "Liverpool". Might mess up those less in the know.

This adds tremendously to the experience of flying in the coverage area. With MS backing off their aggressive water, allowing us to see the seashore, this mod is the icing on the cake. Very, very highly recommended!!!

This is superb, I love flying around my local area! I think you are on to something here. You could definitely charge on simmarket for a full set of these, the quality is that good. Sending you some cash.

This is excellent - sincere thanks for this! How come such a profound change in the scenery is such a small file size?
Thank you! The small file size is purely because there is minimal objects added only hand crafted exclusion zones for the sea that reveal the Bing image underneath and are very small in file size.

very good work. Thank you. The rest of the British Isles and Brittany could use more of that. Always high tide everywhere and trees on every little rock 😊

Brilliant Mark, they are a great improvement. Any chance of doing the same for the northwest coast? Fleetwood, Pilling Sands etc? I used to fly a lot round there, learned to land on Pilling Sands when I used to fly microlights!

Thanks, I may get round to doing other areas soon but can’t promise anything. The wife asked where I’d been for the last 3 days while I worked on this one! Don’t think she’ll be best pleased if I make a habit of it 😂.
It also depends on the quality of the bing maps imagery in that particular area of the sea. Some are better than others while some don't have any images of low tide at all or different images stitched together from different times of the day. Will look into it though.
