- Each part of this scenery can be installed individually or as a whole for best experience
- Optimized for performance using Thalixte Google Optimization Tools
- Colour corrected textures to better blend with deafult scenery
- Real trees preserved where possible with a special terraforming tech
- Fully compatible with all the Orbx airports that cover Maui
- Hundreds of extra points of night lighting added
Installation
There are three individual files here to download. You can either download them all (for best experience) or any of your chosing and use them individually if you wish.

Happy to report that Kaanapali and Kihei still look great with the new WU13 Hawaii scenery. (And they're much-needed -- can't believe MS shipped sans photogrammetry.)
@John_Lovell, so sorry to see on your other posts about your PC and losing all of that work. 😞 Maybe you could repackage this for now with Kaanapali and Kihei only, just to save folks from issues with Kahalui?
Also, I'd love any references to what resources you used to create such excellent photogrammetry! I'd love to try my hand at it, and yours is so much cleaner and better color-corrected than a lot of what I've seen on fs.to.

Hi Denny
Thanks for the review and glad at least two of the sceneries are working ok. If only I had a PC I would be all over this right now and patching up with updates... you know, after this scenery, I went straight to work on another Hawaiian project that was gonna be much bigger and better... alas!
In terms of recourses I used, was the standard blender and Thalixites decoder tools. But the real work was in the post editing. This one I spent a couple of months as I terraform in all the detail by hand. Not just a matter of slap dash and done.... I would use photoshop to edit the textures to tone them down. I made a custom preset after much experimentation, but sadly all this is gone.

I had really enjoyed the Maui scenery, but unfortunately Kahului now has extreme elevation changes with blurring. Hope you can fix!

Hello John,
I'm sorry to hear that your PC was stolen in this February. That's why, you couldn't prepare Mod compatible to SU11 even if you want to do...
I never mean to insist but I really be happy if you modify Kahului section which is compatible to SU11.

Hi John! Just a heads-up that with the changes in the sim's water levels, there are some really wacky elevated water textures around the shoreline in the Kahului section. I had to disable that, though Kaanapali and Kihea are still fine.
If you could revisit after SU11 ships, that would be awesome, as these really improve the heck out of Maui!

It seems that I may not have installed this properly a few months ago. Today, I redownload this and followed the instruction and Maui never looked better and even the roofs of the Maui Preparatory Academy is as it should be. I have not noticed any elevation issues (at least not at the Kahului airport made by Northern Sky Studios) and the terrain is stunningly beautiful! Thank you!!

Thanks for your kind comment and really pleased you're enjoying the scenery. Happy to know you gave this a second try with installation. It can seem quite complex but also the reason I try to provide as much info as I can with my PDF guides

Hi John, I don't see Kaanapali and Kihei files to download?

When you click the download button, you should see these files?
You have the Main file, then these two additional files to download

Love this add on, it looks amazing but unfortunately it's killing my computer (3070 with an older I7 CPU, 32GB ram). so mostly useful for screen grabs right now 😊. I'm wondering if you are planning to try and optimize the mod in the future? I recently came across the Maui tri city pack by John_Lovell which was optimized and runs smoothly. I don't know too much about how this is done but hope it's something you can achieve in the future. Thank you for all your hard work! cheers.

Thanks for your comment, but I think you are commenting on the wrong product here... this is the John_Lovell triple city pack :)

First, I'd like to say how true this mod makes the island of Maui look. Terrific work! I do want to point out that I too experienced the terrain spikes. However, I figured out what was causing the issue. I also had the Haleakala Observatory mod by droide, https://flightsim.to/file/23406/haleakala-observatory-maui-hawaii, installed in my community folder, and unfortunately, they are incompatible with each other. Once I removed the Haleakala mod from the community folder and rebooted the sim. The terrain spikes were gone! Two make Maui even more realistic, I hope the two mods can be compatible in the future!

Thanks for your feedback and gland you're enjoying the scenery.
Those spikes are a real strange one. They have been more prominent since the last few updates. With this one, it was strange how they would be there, then the next they would go. Trying to eliminate them was like 'wack a mole'... now you see them, now you dont.... when I tested the final build before release, I was satisfied I culled them all, but they are little nightmares.. haha
I am afraid though, I have had some huge changes in my personal circumstance in the last few days which will leave me away from developing scenery so I wont be making any updates anytime soon.
Thanks again.

I love your scenery, not only the crisp details and the inclusion of trees, but also the care you took to get the colors to blend in so well. But I don't understand your explanation of the massive spikes I saw from miles away, whenever your scenery was enabled.
I have collected several large photogrammetric cities (Stuttgart, Prague, Honolulu, etc.; as well your Plymouth, Belfast, San Antonio, and others--all excellent) and I've never seen spikes generated by any of them. I've also flown quite a bit in Hawaii due to having most of the available airports. I also have a bit of scenery for there, including photogrammetric, but have never seen spikes in Hawaii, until now. The only mods I have for Maui are PHJH, PHOG, PHHN, and Droide's mountain top observatories.
So, I put your theory about server loads and bandwidth to the test. I tested Saturday at 10:30PM Pacific Time (USA) and again Sunday at 2:30AM Pacific Time (a low load time), both times spikes appeared on Maui and neighboring islands, exactly the same ones as on Saturday afternoon, during peak server loads. Immediately after the 2:30AM test I ran speedtest.net and my system had a 6 ms ping, 180.49 Mbps download speed. I've got high end hardware (Intel 10 core CPU, 2080Ti, 64GB RAM, running MSFS off SSDs). I repeated the late-night test again on Sunday, surely with a low server load, with the same results. So, I'm struggling to align my test results with your theory. Also, if it was just a bandwidth issue, then your other cities should have had the same issue.
Since all of my downloads of your wonderful 3D cities have not included the additional trees, I suspected that they might be the cause of the spikes. But a quick survey of all your tree equipped mods failed to turn up a single report of spikes. So, Maui is definitely an edge case.
I desperately want to use this scenery and the upcoming ones you've teased about, but a multitude of spikes visible from across the islands every time I fly is a deal breaker.
(I'm making a point of not reviewing this because it is clearly popular and the end result is top notch, so I don't want to mess up your rating--or get labeled a troll. I'm just honestly confused why Maui hoses things and your other delightful creations have been rock solid.)

Thanks for your comment and amazing feedback, it is really appreciated.
As mentioned on another reply here, those spikes recently have become a complete mystery. One moment they are there, the next they're not. When I was developing this scenery, they were more prominent than I have ever seen them before and I couldnt rack my head round why that was. It could be in this one, the terraforming I use wasnt playing nicely. The spikes are more prominent from a distance and I think it could be where I use small fall of distances with the terraforming causing this.
Another user here mentioned he removed a mod and that solved his issue.
Unfortunately, I wont be making any updates to this scenery and any more now as I have had a huge change in my personal circumstances in the last few days. It leaves me very sad not to be doing these anymore... I hope one day I can return to developing
Best regards
John
