This lighting fix for the ART72-600 is based upon the work of Frangollo, who made this beautiful lighting for the Working Cockpit (CJ4) version of this aircraft. Finding myself much preferring the Comminty Version (King Air 350 cockpit), I remapped all of the lighting controls and reworked the electrical to make it all function for this version of the beloved ATR72-600. The CJ4 version just felt too "jet like" to me, whereas the King Air is a proper turbo-prop aircraft.
What it does:
Strobe/Nav/Beacon switches are self-explanatory
Left and Right Landing Light switches now operate the left and right landing lights independently
Taxi switch operates the lights on the nose/gear of the aircraft
ICE switch operates the 2 floodlights high up on the tail which illuminate the engines and wings
Recognition switch operates the side recognition/runway turn lights
Tail illuminates the logo on the tail of the aircraft.
In addition to remapping the switches for the external lighting, I modified the electrics in the systems file so that the compass in the Air King cockpit is now illuninated when you turn on the gauge lights. Sadly, haven't yet found a way to dim the lights on the auto pilot or backup altimiter, which is a bit bright for my taste. Will update this if I find a solution, but please let me know if one of you figure it out.
To install: Navigate to your ATR72-600/SimObjects/AIRPLANES/art726 folder and overwrite the systems file with this version. You may have to overwrite the systems files in liveries as well if each has an individual systems file.
This aircraft looks absolutely stunning on a dark runway all light up at night
If you do share this work, please give appropriate credit to Frangollo, and you may not charge for this fix. Frangollo offered up his work for free, as do I. Love to make others happy, but not fair to charge for work that is not your own.
Oh, and being Canadian you know that Air Canada was a must. There is no Air Canada livery for the Community version, only the CJ4 cockpit version. But the good news is that the Texture files are the same for both versions. So you can overwrite the textures in the Community (King Air) version with the textures from the Working Cockpit (CJ4) version, and it works just fine.
And be sure to backup your existing systems file, just in case something goes wrong. Although you can always grab it again from the download.
